This presentation highlights how modern airborne natural electromagnetic total-field surveys are advancing mineral exploration by providing passive, broadband resistivity imaging from near surface to depths of 1–2 km across a wide range of geological environments. Using the MobileMT system, which combines three-component airborne magnetic measurements with stationary electric-field recordings, the method improves sensitivity to geoelectrical boundaries of any orientation, reduces topographic and tilt-related limitations, and supports robust inversion of subsurface resistivity structure. Field examples from the Stillwater West Ni-Cu-Co-PGE project in Montana and the Boumadine polymetallic deposit in Morocco demonstrate the ability of the method to detect both known and previously unresolved deep conductive targets, delineate mineralization-controlling structures and hydrothermal pathways, and outperform conventional airborne time-domain EM where greater depth of investigation is required. Overall, the presentation shows that broadband total-field AFMAG surveys can deliver geologically meaningful results that strengthen drill targeting and support the development of more reliable mineral systems models.
